Commercial Cards - TAX Prompts

Commercial Cards - TAX Prompts

A "tax prompt" on commercial cards refers to two different situations: either merchants asking if a purchase is tax-exempt, or the system automatically prompting merchants about a specific commercial card's tax-exempt status.  It can also relate to the business owner's responsibility to document and report expenses and deductions for tax purposes, including sales tax, business expenses, and credit card interest.

For Merchants
  1. When using a commercial card,  merchants should be aware that some cards are issued by goverment programsand may be tax-exempt.
  2. To ensure proper tax exemption is applied, a merchant may encounter a prompt at the point of sale to confirm if the transaction is tax-exempt.  Pressing "Yes" or "Enter" would allow the tax to be waived.
