Connect Error:
This is typically related to a Network Issue. If the customer is using First Data, check their Datawire to make sure you don't get a Status Error. Use the following procedures to solve a
Connect Error.
Over LAN on Traditional Terminals
- Set the Main Communication Type to LAN
- Menu > Communication > Main Communication > LAN
- Go into the LAN Parameter
- select the appropriate LAN Type: DHCP or Static (If it is a static IP the customer will need complete all Static IP information).
- While in LAN Parameters Do a PING Test (Static IP address may not allow you ping)
- if it fails go back into LAN Parameters and change the DNS to 008.008.008.008 (google), the run another PING Test.
- If the PING still fails advise the customer to contact their ISP (Internet Service Provider) to confirm if they are having network issues or to add the terminal MAC address as an exception to the firewall.
- To locate the MAC Address: Menu > Communication > LAN Parameters > MAC Address
- If the terminal says "PING OK" have the customer do a test transaction to verify the terminal is working.
If this does not resolve the issue verify with the Network Provider the correct Ports and Primary Auth Urls are open for processing and if necessary have them add it as an exception to the firewall.
You can locate the Ports and Primary Auth URL on the file under the HOST Tab at the bottom.
