Connect Error (Dial)

We have limited support for connect/receive errors with terminals connected over dial.

Choose Action Retry:  Customers with terminals connected over Dial will get this error. Press the cancel button to see if the true error is a receive error or a connect error. If you get this error and a customer is on LAN, check if they are using First Data, have them do a HOST Register to determine if they have a true Connect Error or Status Error.

If it's a Receive Error: Increase the Connect/Receive timeouts in the terminal.

  1. Menu
  2. Communication
  3. Connect Timeout to 600
  4. Receive Timeout to 900

If it's a Connect Error: Verify the dial tone check in the terminal is off and confirm they do not use a dialing prefix.

  1. Menu
  2. Communications
  3. Dial Parameters
  4. Dial Tone Check > Turn it OFF
  5. Enter a Dialing Prefix if one is needed
No Session Retry: This means the terminal can not get a stable connection to the host for processing.

If the customer is still unable to process a transaction apologize for the inconvenience and advise the caller they will need to process over the internet. Their phone line may be too slow to continue processing over dial. Advise the Baudratte needs to be 9600 to use PAX terminals over dial.
