Note: Determine the S300’s model number: view the  model number, which is printed on the SN label , located on the backside of the device.

Remove the SAM Cover in order to check the power cable connection:

For the S300-000-363-01NA model:

  • Lightly press the indented finger pad and push the SAM cover upwards.  The cover clicks and then pops out.
  • To remove the power cable from the terminal’s socket: grip the connector on the sides and gently, but firmly, pull the connector straight up.
  • DO NOT push the connector upwards towards the top of the device.  This will bend the pins.

For the S300-000-364-02NA model:

  • Remove the screw at the top of the SAM cover.
  • Gently lift the SAM cover from the back of the terminal.
  • To remove the power cable from the terminal’s socket: grip the connector on the sides and gently, but firmly, pull the connector straight up.
  • DO NOT push the connector upwards towards the top of the device.  This will bend the pins.

2. Inspect Pins

  |

  • This view shows the back of the terminal with the removed SAM cover and the power cable removed.
  • If one of pins is bent or the connection is not tight, these factors can cause issues such as a Check LAN Cable error message.
  • The pins need to be straight. If one or more of the pins is bent, the terminal user can gently straighten the pins and plug the connector back in.
  • If one or more pins are damaged or missing, the user must RMA the terminal.

3. Inspect Connector|

  • The S300 power cable has a dongle that attaches to the back of the S300 via a 14-pin connector.

  • Inspect the cable connection and pins to ensure there is not debris or foreign objects interfering with the connection.

4. Re-seat Connector

  |

  • If the terminal user tried other means to correct a Check LAN Cable error message and those attempts did not work, the user can try re-seating the cable and see if this resolves the issue.
