If it Fails

There are several reasons why a terminal will fail a PING test. Review some of the tips below to isolate and resolve the issue.

  1. Check the LAN cable or verify the wifi information is correct (Wifi passwords are case sensitive)
  2. Check if there is an IP Address
  3. DNS Resolve Error: There is an issue with the Network DNS. The caller will have to contact their ISP (Internet Service Provider).
  4. Power cycle the terminal to see if you get any errors when it boots up (DHCP Error, Connect Error, Check LAN Cable)
  5. Verify if the customer is supposed to use DHCP or Static IP and select the correct Settings. If they are using a STATIC IP the IP Address, Gateway IP, Subnet Mask, and DNS are needed.
  6. If everything has been verified as correct ask the customer if they can try to connect the terminal at a different location.
  7. Inform the caller to have the ISP (Internet Service Provider) add the MAC Address for the terminal as an exception to the firewall.
